Tulsa is home to Gathering Place, a new riverfront attraction for tourists and locals alike to bring their families and have a good time, all while supporting economic, environmental, and social sustainability in the city.

A New Attraction in Tulsa

Gathering Place construction began in 2014, and the park finally opened in September 2018. For those who have visited Tulsa in years passed, this spot provides the perfect reason to come back.

From a five-acre adventure playground to a pond made for canoes and paddleboats, there are many ways to spend time outdoors and enjoy it. Kids will get a kick out of amazing features like Fairyland Forest and Land of the River Giants before taking a break with parents on Cottonwood Lawn. When lunchtime hits, food options are also available around the park. Check out Redbud Café or The Patio in Williams Lodge for meals, snacks, and treats.

For those traveling through Tulsa that want to embrace this celebration of the outdoors, Riverview RV park is the perfect spot to spend the night. Just outside of the city, this quaint campground combines comfort with nature with nature trails and a view of the Arkansas River.

More than Just a Park

While this hot spot is excellent for youth activities, Gathering Place offers so much more. Picnic Grove is a great spot to enjoy brunch with friends. Take a stroll across the grounds and enjoy the gardens and works of art scattered around the property.

As a strong supporter of health and wellness, many opportunities for physical activities are also available. From walking through the Midland Valley Trail to BMX tracks, there are many ways to get your heart pumping. Also, athletic programs for all ages are in the works to offer fun and enjoyable forms of physical activity.

Gathering Place Supports Sustainability

The focus of Gathering Place is the environment. The landscape was deliberately designed with eco-friendly strategies. Everything, including the materials used to craft the many features of the park, was selected with sustainability in mind. Throughout construction, over 5,500 trees and more than 8 acres of meadows were planted to create new habitats and increase biodiversity.

Other sustainability methods installed throughout the grounds include an automated LED lighting system and sustainable water management. While attraction provides entertainment, it can also provide a perfect opportunity to educate children about the importance of sustainability and going green.
