Every Thursday and Saturday: Story Time at the Gathering Place

Visit the Gathering Place every Thursday at 4:00 PM under the Reading Tree and Saturday at 9:30 AM at ONE in the boathouse for storytime featuring guest readers. Like a few other events in august, Story Time takes place through the entire year, so be sure to check it out no matter when you visit!

8/21: Monarchs on the Mountain Migration Celebration

Head to Turkey Mountain for an experience you will not want to miss! Take part in a variety of activities and watch as Monarch Butterflies are tagged and released. This migration celebration is one of the most beautiful events in August.

8/24: Maker Faire Tulsa

Sometimes known as “The Greatest Show and Tell on Earth,” Maker Faire Tulsa serves to showcase local makers and inspire creativity and innovation in children.

8/6: First Friday Art Crawl

This year marks the First Friday Art Crawl’s 12th year. As one of the best public entertainment events in Tulsa, the art crawl attracts a crowd of over 3,000 every month. Visitors stroll along the streets of T-Town and check out what the city’s artists have to offer. Locals and visitors alike look forward to The art crawl, some more than any other of the events in august.

Every Wednesday: Food Truck Wednesday

Check out Guthrie Green for a gorgeous park as well as unique lunch offerings. From 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, get your fill of good food, good music, and fresh air.

8/9: Oh, Tulsa

Celebrate Tulsa’s art and artists as this biannual Living Arts event.

8/17: Chili on the Green

The State of Oklahoma Chili Championship takes place on Saturday, September 17th at Guthrie Green. With activities for all ages and an abundance of chili, this event is sure to be a hit.

8/17: Salsa Tasting Festival

If chili does not suit you, head over to the Oklahoma Aquarium for its first salsa tasting festival. Activities include a Chihuahua costume contest and a jalapeno eating contest. This might be the spiciest of all events in August!

Spend your evening with one of the top comedians in the country. This 21+ event takes place at Paradise Cove and is one of Tulsa’s top comedic events in August.

06/22-09/22: Van Gogh, Monet, Degas: The Mellon Collection of French Art from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts

This ongoing event requires a bit of a drive, as the exhibit is featured at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. However, the trip is well worth it with the classic pieces of various French artists.
